Chicago Photo Tour

The local Crystal Lake, Illinois Camera Club joined with the Schaumburg Camera Club to go on a photography tour in 2011. It was a hot (95 degree F) day with haze which was not ideal for photography however, we enjoyed our trip. Thirty Five of us bused to the city and visited various areas of the City of Chicago. It was a wonderful way to meet other like minded photographers, socialize some, and practice our hobby. The images represent a few of the scenes that I thought worth sharing.

A look at some of my Favorites captured during from 2018
I have had the opportunity during the past several years to receive recognition for many of my images. The following are 5 of my favorites.

July 4, 2011 Fireworks in Huntley, Illinois
On the 135th anniversary of the United States of America we witnessed fireworks. This was my first time using the DSLR D90 to photograph them. My average settings were 2 seconds shutter speed, f/13 aperture, and ISO 200 at varying ranges of 60mm to 105mm. It was fun to see the results. Here are a few of the approximately 200 bursts I captured.

Trip to Le Claire, Iowa, Lock & Dam #14 on the Mississippi River
Recently Joann and I traveled from our home in Lake in the Hills, Illinois over to and along the Rock River so I could see possible future photography expeditions. Eventually we crossed the Mississippi at I80 and arrived in Le Claire, Iowa. The day of the trip was very rainy and stormy so we had some concern about the week-end. However, Saturday and Sunday were excellently sunny days. We stayed at a lovely overnight rental apartment for two nights called the Le Claire River Loft. During our stay, we visited the Mississippi River Distillery in Le Claire, the Lavender Crest Winery in Colona, IL, as well as the Wide River Winery in Clinton Iowa. We also went to the Quad Cities area, viewed the flooding, and stopped at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa which is Joann's college where she is working on her Masters in Education through their distance learning program. This was a fun, relaxing, and inspiring Spring week-end for Joan and me.

Views of Churches
I have always been fascinated with church architecture. Here we will look at some interesting varieties and perspectives of exterior views of worship spaces around the world.
